1st Vice President

Ben Geselbracht

I am a proud resident of the City of Nanaimo and privileged to live in Snuneymuxw First Nation territory. I work hard as an elected official, both at the municipal and regional level, and demonstrate leadership on responsible governance, climate action, circular economy, social equity and effective advocacy.  A sample of my formal advocacy effort and collaborative spirit are reflected in my participation on the following bodies:

•      The 2019-2020 UBCM Executive as a Director at Large; on both the environment and   community economic development committees
•      The Vancouver Island and Coastal Community Climate Leadership Plan Steering Committee
•      The AVICC Special Committee on Solid Waste
•      Co-chair of the Climate Caucus Working group on Zero-Waste and the Circular Economy

AVICC is a connecting force that can help local governments come together to discuss important issues, share resources and bring a unified voice to the issues that are of significance to our unique Island and Coastal region. Through my experience on the AVICC Special Committee on Solid Waste and as a member of the VICC Climate Leadership Steering Committee, I have seen the benefits of Island and Coastal local governments collaborating around shared goals. I would like to contribute to further enhancing AVICC’s ability to support regional collaboration and advance the needs of our residents. Thank you.

The AVICC acknowledges that we are grateful to live, work, and play on the traditional territories of the
Coast Salish, Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Kwak-Waka’wakw Peoples
