Minister Trevena response

Initial post:

At their June 19th meeting, the AVICC Executive Committee reviewed a letter sent by the Comox Valley Regional District requesting the re-establishment of the 2014 AVICC Special Committee on BC Ferries. This  request was in reaction to proposed temporary reductions in service levels on eleven routes. Since then, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure worked with BC Ferries to secure funding to avoid these sailing reductions.

The Executive resolved not to re-establish the committee at this time, but will monitor announcements and may reconsider this decision. The Executive also resolved to send a letter to the Honourable Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure reiterating the importance of the sailings on these routes to our ferry-dependent communities, and encouraging the Province to ensure BC Ferries works effectively and respectfully with the ferry advisory committees.
