2020 August 26 – Nominating Students for UBCM, Registering for AVICC AGM

August 26, 2020

  1. Student Registrations at UBCM Convention

UBCM is offering complimentary registration for up to three students from the AVICC region to attend the UBCM virtual convention from September 22-24. This is an opportunity for students to learn about local government through a range of informative sessions and distinguished speakers. The students will have the opportunity to observe the resolutions process and member debate, and can virtually attend sessions that will include keynote speaker Margaret Atwood; Premier John Horgan, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Selina Robinson; Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry: and Her Honour, BC Lieutenant Governor, Janet Austin. Students must be 19 or under, a high school student, and have valid student ID. To nominate a student, please email avicc@ubcm.ca by September 9th with a Board or Council resolution of support for the student and information on why they are being nominated by the Board or Council.

  1. Registering Directly for AVICC AGM

As mentioned in our July member update, the AVICC AGM will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd from 4:30 to 5:30 pm in conjunction with the UBCM virtual convention. There are two ways to register for the AGM:

Members who are registering for the UBCM Convention can select the AVICC AGM as an option on the online registration form, and there is no additional registration fee.

AVICC members who are not attending UBCM can register for only the AVICC AGM by emailing the member’s name, local government, title, contact email and phone number to avicc@ubcm.ca with subject line AGM Registration (to avoid double registrations please ensure you are not already registered).

Contact Information: AVICC staff are currently working remotely so there may be delays in responding to voice mails left on the AVICC phone number. The best way to contact AVICC is by email. Regular mail can still be sent to AVICC care of:
