The Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC)
The Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC) is the largest of the area associations under the umbrella of the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) with 373 elected officials.
The area association was established in 1950. It now has a membership of 54 municipalities, regional districts, First Nations and Trust Areas that stretches from Haida Gwaii down to the tip of Vancouver Island and includes Powell River/qathet, the Sunshine Coast, the Central Coast and the North Coast.
The Association deals with issues and concerns that affect all our members ranging from large urban areas to small rural communities.
The Annual General Meeting & Convention
The Annual General Meeting & Convention is held in April each year, and provides members with the opportunity to bring forward issues and concerns from their individual communities through resolutions and debates.
The Convention runs from Friday afternoon to Sunday noon. Pre-Convention workshops and tours are held on Friday morning, usually beginning at 8:30 am.
The Executive is constantly working to make this event informative while giving members an opportunity to share their issues.
