The Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC) is pleased to introduce its Strategic Priorities for 2026–2030 – a forward-looking plan that will guide the organization’s work over the next four years. This strategy builds on AVICC’s strong foundation and reflects our commitment to effective advocacy, meaningful opportunities for member connection and learning, and a strong, responsive organization. Grounded in the principle that AVICC is at its best when members work together, the Strategic Priorities focus on ensuring the collective voice of Vancouver Island and coastal communities continues to be heard and acted upon.
With AVICC now operating independently from UBCM and with increased capacity to invest in advocacy, the Executive recognized the importance of taking a more intentional and strategic approach to work planning. This process allowed for thoughtful consideration of how best to allocate resources, strengthen organizational capacity, and respond to the evolving needs of members.
The Strategic Priorities will directly inform AVICC’s annual workplan and advocacy activities. Implementation will be closely aligned with member direction identified through resolutions endorsed at Convention and feedback gathered through an advocacy prioritization survey. Together these inputs will ensure that AVICC’s advocacy efforts remain focused on the issues of greatest importance to member communities. In addition to advocacy alignment, key actions identified through the strategy include strengthening governance and organizational capacity, enhancing member engagement opportunities beyond Convention, and continuing to evolve the tools and resources available to support member collaboration and decision-making.
AVICC encourages all members to review the Strategic Priorities document to better understand the direction of the organization and how it will support and represent communities over the coming term.
