Director at Large
Mark Gisborne
Mark Gisborne is serving his second term representing Electoral Area B, and is the youngest member of the qathet Regional District Board of Directors. Mark is a farmer in Paradise Valley, just outside of Powell River.
Mark developed an interest and understanding of the workings of government as the son of an 11-term Local Elected Official (father) and of a Federal Customs Officer (mother). Growing up, Mark was fortunate to have visited every single community on the B.C. West Coast. He has lived in multiple coastal communities and has worked in various industries, including construction, tourism, and commercial fisheries. He studied Math and Physics at VIU and UVIC. In 2015 he moved home to help his parents on the family farm, and later became a full time caregiver for his father who developed “Locked-in syndrome”. Mark is now the owner and operator of the family farm, and lives in a multi generational household with his mother, wife Bronwyn and three young children.
Mark Gisborne firmly believes that being an Elected Official is about service above self. Ideas need to be shared from all sides. True inclusiveness includes those who you may disagree with. Mark fearlessly engages with difficult or controversial topics. He believes in cost-effective service delivery, and that policies and regulations can be reformed to more efficiently achieve the goals and objectives of why those policies and regulations exist in the first place. His primary areas of interest are Agriculture, Land Use Regulatory Reform, Local Government Act Legislative Reform, and Urban/Rural Economics. Mark is grateful to have been nominated and Elected to the AVICC Executive for the 2026-2027 term and hopes he can effectively advocate for membership based on the resolutions that were adopted by the membership at the 2026 convention.
The AVICC acknowledges that we are grateful to live, work, and play on the traditional territories of theCoast Salish, Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Kwak-Waka’wakw Peoples
