Welcome to Victoria

The 2024 AVICC AGM & Convention was held in Victoria from Friday April 12 to Sunday April 14 at the Victoria Conference Centre. The City of Victoria was our host, and we thank them for supporting the Association. Information about activities in Victoria is available at Tourism Victoria. 

AVICC are grateful to be guests in the territories of the Songhees Nation and the Esquimalt Nation for this year’s conference. 

The 2024 Convention marked AVICC’s 75th year of representing local government on Vancouver Island and in Coastal Communities.  We are grateful to those who were able to celebrate with us in Victoria in April!

Program & Brochure

The Convention Program and Brochure are now available. Highlights from the program include our Keynote Speaker, Diane Kalen-Sukra, details on the sessions, events, and information about our pre-convention tours, workshops and forums.

The Convention Program remained as draft until shortly before the Convention to allow for emergent issues and to accommodate speaker availability. Updates were posted on our website throughout the month leading up to the event.

Resolutions

The AVICC Executive put the call out for resolutions to be considered at the 2024 Convention with a deadline of February 7, 2024. Further information is available at the following link:  2024 Resolutions Call-Out

Nominations
The AVICC Executive put the call out for nominations for elected officials to serve on the 2024/25 AVICC Executive Committee with a deadline of February 7, 2024. Further information is available at the following link:
 

Accommodations

AVICC set up accommodation blocks at preferred rates with three of the hotels closest to the Fairmont Empress and Victoria Conference Centre, where the convention took place.  2024 Hotel Room reservation information was available at the following link: 2024 Accommodations
 
Celebrating 75 Years of AVICC
This year marked AVICC’s 75th AGM and it was an honour to celebrate with our members and partners.  Thank you to those who were with us to recognize this milestone marking 75 years of unified advocacy on behalf of local governments in our region.
 
It was a pleasure to see you in Victoria in April 2024!
