Nanaimo: 2027 AGM & Convention

Welcome to Nanaimo!

The 2027 AVICC AGM & Convention will be held in Nanaimo from Friday April 16 to Sunday April 18 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. The City of Nanaimo and the Regional District of Nanaimo will be our hosts, and we thank them for supporting the association.

AVICC is honoured to gather on the traditional territories of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, the Qualicum First Nation, and the Snaw-naw-as (Nanoose) First Nation for the upcoming convention.

Hotel Information

Hotel blocks will be set up at hotels near the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.  Booking information will be available in the Summer of 2026.

Registration

Registration for the 2027 convention will be available through CivicInfo BC in February of 2027.

Program & Brochure

The convention brochure and program will be available in February/March of 2027

Note that the program remains in draft until shortly before convention open to allow for emerging issues, and changes to the content.     

Resolutions

The AVICC Executive will put the call out for Resolutions to be considered at the 2027 Convention with a deadline of February 2027 (to be confirmed in October).

The Resolutions Book will be published with the Annual Report, two weeks prior to the AGM.

Nominations

The AVICC Executive will put the call out for nominations for elected officials to serve on the 2027/28 AVICC Executive Committee with a deadline of February 2027. Further information will be available in late October.

Session Proposals

The AVICC Executive is pleased to present a wide variety of informative sessions for delegates each year. 

Session Proposals can be sent to info@avicc.ca.  The formal session proposal process will be available in October of 2026 with a deadline of December of 2026.  Final programming decisions will be confirmed at the January 2026 Executive Meeting.

Student Delegate Applications

The AVICC Executive would like to encourage members to invite interested local secondary or post-secondary students to apply to attend the Convention business sessions in 2027. Further information will be sent to members following the October Executive meeting.

Other Information

AVICC plans to source the food and beverage served at the convention from Island Good suppliers whenever possible.
